SEAFARER: Journal of Shipping Affairs is an international peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to research on shipping operations, seafarer studies, maritime safety, port activities, maritime logistics, and maritime transportation systems.
The journal publishes theoretical, empirical, operational, managerial, technological, behavioral, regulatory, and policy-oriented studies across four main areas: Shipping Operations and Maritime Transportation; Seafarers, Human Factors and Maritime Workforce; Maritime Safety, Security and Risk Management; and Ports, Shipping Logistics and Maritime Supply Chains.
SEAFARER particularly welcomes research that contributes to safer, more efficient, sustainable, resilient, and human-centered maritime transportation systems. Relevant topics include ship operations, voyage and fleet management, seafarer competence and welfare, maritime education and training, fatigue and human factors, navigation safety, marine accident analysis, safety management systems, maritime risk assessment, port operations, cargo handling, shipping networks, maritime logistics, supply-chain resilience, digital shipping, smart ports, and sustainable maritime transportation.
Interdisciplinary contributions from maritime economics, management, engineering, environmental studies, psychology, occupational health, logistics, transportation science, information systems, artificial intelligence, law, education, and public policy are welcome when they demonstrate a clear contribution to shipping operations, seafarers, maritime safety, ports, maritime logistics, or maritime transportation systems.
